Workers on the campaign of a Conservative MP who declined to participate in the in-and-out advertising scheme in the 2006 election were denounced as “idiots” and a “bunch of turds” by senior party officials, who wanted to “put the fear of God” into them for not taking part in the contentious TV and radio purchases.

Tories in Ottawa-Orléans promise to double-check before planting signs

OTTAWA – Conservatives in Ottawa-Orléans are promising to check that people really support the party before planting signs in their front lawns, after signs were mistakenly placed with non-supporters on the weekend.

OTTAWA–The Conservative party acknowledges in Federal Court documents that $1.3 million worth of advertising allotted to individual Tory candidates in the 2006 election was in reality produced for the party’s national campaign and had no bearing on candidates or local issues.
